Entertaining
Spend time with your loved ones, not in the kitchen
Way too often people dive into organizing an occasion and lose sight of the main goal in the first place, which is to spend time with the people we love. Here’s how to make that a lot easier!
Cook with intelligence
Your family is coming over to your place to see you and to spend time with you. Keep dinner simple so you don’t end up spending hours in the kitchen.
Cook what you know
It’s always tempting to try to impress your mother-in-law with some kind of fancy dish, but she’ll be even happier to have you at the table serving a dish you aced, rather than off on your own experimenting in the kitchen.
Set the atmosphere
Choose background music, lighting and decorations to achieve the ambience you want. Going ultra-casual? Wear your slippers and apron with pride!
Accept help
Let your dad help out, because if he’s offering, it’s because he really wants to. This will also give you two a chance to talk, which is a good thing since you never said two words to each other when you lived at home.
Consider “self-serve” stations
Cocktail bar, tapas bar, dessert bar… let your guests serve themselves. It sociable, it’s different and it’s a labour saver :)
The operative word is RELAX and enjoy your family. :)
